Senior Hardware & Firmware Engineer

LIGHTYX · ramatgan

Company Description LightYX is transforming the construction industry with a laser-accurate construction layout tool that brings digital designs directly to the job site. By projecting layouts onto real-world environments, the company closes the gap between planning and execution. This approach significantly accelerates layout speed compared to traditional methods, while reducing errors and rework. The solution is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, enabling teams to work more efficiently. LightYX offers an opportunity to help shape the future of construction technology as part of an innovative and growing team. Role Summary As a Hardware & Firmware Engineer at LightYX, you will serve as the core technical authority for our electrical and embedded firmware architecture. You will own the full lifecycle of our PCBs-from schematic design and component selection to layout management, while writing the firmware layer that links our robotic system software to the physical hardware. This is a critical pivot role requiring an agile balance of technical design, hands-on troubleshooting, cost-engineering, and tight cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, software, and production teams. Key Responsibilities Electronics Board & System Design: Own schematic design and component selection for all proprietary boards. Design system-level wiring architecture and detailed technical drawings. Embedded Firmware Development: Write and architect low-level C/C++ firmware infrastructure to control and interface sensors, multi-axis motors, high-precision components and lasers subsystems with the software. Hands-on Board Bring-Up, QC & Troubleshooting: Act as the primary lab problem solver for board debugging, rework, and failure analysis. Establish QC procedures for newly received boards to support production. DFM & Cost Optimization: Apply strict Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to optimize PCB layouts, streamline assembly, and aggressively reduce production and bill-of-materials (BOM) costs. PCB Layout Management: Drive physical board layout design, directly executing or managing outsourced layout tasks with external subcontractors. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate daily with Mechanical Engineering , Software/Algo ,and Production teams to smoothly transition designs to the assembly line. Requirements & Qualifications Education: B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience Hardware & Layout Expertise: 3+ years of experience in board design (mixed-signal, power management, microcontrollers) and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, KiCad). Embedded Firmware Skills: Strong C/C++ programming skills for microcontrollers (STM32, ARM Cortex, etc.) and deep familiarity with hardware protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB). Hands-on Capability: Excellent lab skills (soldering, prototyping, oscilloscope diagnostics) and a natural problem-solving mindset. Proven DFM Focus: Demonstrated experience implementing DFM practices specifically targeted at price reduction, cost optimization, and yield improvement in production.
