Mechanical Design Engineer

Aerium

TL;DR Looking for excellent people who dare to make mistakes. What are we looking for? We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team and take a key role in designing, building, testing, and improving mechanical systems for advanced autonomous, robotics, and embedded platforms. The focus of this role is the design and development of electronics enclosures made from various materials, alongside embedded mechanical assemblies that combine several components into reliable, manufacturable systems. This includes PCB enclosures, electronic housings, thermal management solutions, mechanical integrations, and ruggedized assemblies for robotics and embedded systems. You will work closely with electronics teams to turn ideas into reliable, deployable products that operate in real-world environments. This is a hands-on role, combining office, workshop, and outdoor work, focused on mechanical design, integration, validation, and continuous improvement of complex hardware systems. This is a part-time or full-time, on-site role based in Even Yehuda, Israel. Who are we? Aerium is at the forefront of developing next-generation hardware for autonomous and artificial intelligence applications. We empower unmanned and embedded systems with cutting-edge, self-designed electronics as the foundation for complex autonomous missions and advanced AI applications. At Aerium, we are committed to fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration to deliver meaningful technological advancements. We believe that those who dare to make mistakes are the ones who build, learn, and push forward. Aerium is a fast-paced company, committed to going the extra mile to stay at the cutting edge of the industry. We take full ownership of what we build, from concept to deployment. Problems are not passed along, they are solved. We value strong opinions, held with flexibility. The best ideas win, regardless of who brings them. What You’ll Do Design mechanical parts, assemblies, enclosures, mounts, and structural components for advanced hardware systems Design PCB enclosures, electronic housings, brackets, mounting solutions, and ruggedized mechanical packages Develop thermal management solutions for embedded electronics, compute units, PCBs, sensors, and power systems Create detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and production documentation Build and validate prototypes of static and dynamic mechanical systems Design for manufacturability, assembly, durability, serviceability, thermal performance, and field deployment Perform mechanical and thermal testing, functional validation, and failure analysis Support system bring-up, calibration, and field testing of robotics and embedded systems Troubleshoot mechanical, thermal, and electromechanical issues in lab and field settings Work with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams to move designs from prototype to production Continuously improve existing products based on testing results, field feedback, and operational needs Qualifications Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment Fluency in English Strong hands-on mechanical skills and practical engineering intuition Experience with mechanical design, CAD, prototyping, and assembly Experience designing enclosures, electronics housings, and mechanical packaging for embedded systems Experience with thermal management for electronics, including heat dissipation, airflow, heatsinks, conductive paths, and enclosure-level thermal design Experience working with robotics systems, embedded systems, or electromechanical platforms Experience designing parts and assemblies for real-world physical systems Basic knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods, tolerances, fasteners, sealing, mounting, and mechanical interfaces Experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, sheet metal, composites, or other fabrication methods Ability to create clear technical drawings and production documentation Familiarity with sensors, actuators, cameras, PCBs, wiring, compute units, and embedded hardware integration Ability to work independently, take ownership, and solve problems from concept to deployment Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
