Senior DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities You will own and evolve the infrastructure that powers Utila's platform, from cloud architecture and Infrastructure-as-Code to CI/CD, observability, and the security posture of our production systems. Design, implement, and maintain our cloud infrastructure on GCP and AWS, using Pulumi (IaC), with a focus on scalability, reliability, and security. Build and improve CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, enabling fast, safe, and auditable delivery for our backend services. Partner closely with the backend team on Go development tasks, from infrastructure-adjacent services and tooling to production-readiness improvements in core services. Operate and evolve our Kubernetes environments, networking, and secrets management, ensuring high availability and strong sensitive data isolation. Drive our monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices, and continuously raise the bar on observability across the stack. Embed security best practices into our infrastructure and delivery pipelines, IAM, network policies, secret handling, and compliance-aligned controls. Collaborate on architectural and technological decisions, participate in design and code reviews, and help shape engineering standards across the team. Requirements Must-Have 5+ years of professional DevOps / Infrastructure experience, in high-scale cloud services or SaaS products. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with a strong commitment to collaboration and a team-player attitude. Deep experience with cloud platforms (GCP and/or AWS), including networking, IAM, and managed services at scale. Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Pulumi, Terraform, or similar) in production environments. Production experience with Kubernetes and modern container-based delivery. Solid experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, or equivalent). Strong scripting and/or development skills, with the ability to read, write, and review production code. Experience operating PostgreSQL or other managed databases in production. Nice To Have Software development background with production experience in Go (or a strong willingness and track record of contributing code to backend services). Strong security background, cloud security, identity, secrets management, threat modeling, or experience in a security-engineering / DevSecOps role. Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or similar). Familiarity with applied cryptography, blockchain technology, or other security-sensitive financial systems. Experience working in regulated / compliance-heavy environments (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.).
