We are looking for a strong Hands-on Tech Lead to join our core team and take a key role in shaping the architecture, technology, and future capabilities of our product. ## About the Role As a Hands-on Tech Lead at Altius, you will lead the technical design and development of core product capabilities, while staying close to the code. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys building complex systems, solving product and engineering challenges, working with data-heavy products, and bringing AI capabilities into real business workflows. You will work closely with the CEO, product, data, and engineering teams, and will have significant ownership over architecture, technical direction, delivery quality, and team growth. ## What You'll Do - Lead the technical design, architecture, and development of core product features. - Stay hands-on and actively contribute to code, design reviews, and technical problem solving. - Build scalable backend services, APIs, integrations, and data-driven workflows. - Work on AI-powered product capabilities, including automation, document understanding, data extraction, and intelligent workflows. - Make key architectural decisions around scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability. - Mentor and guide a small team of developers. - Collaborate closely with product and business stakeholders to translate complex needs into clear technical solutions. - Improve engineering standards, development processes, code quality, and delivery velocity. - Take full ownership of technical initiatives from design to production. ## What We're Looking For - 7+ years of software engineering experience. - Proven experience as a Tech Lead, Team Lead, Senior Backend Engineer, or similar role. - Strong hands-on backend development experience. - Experience designing scalable systems, APIs, microservices, integrations, and production-grade architectures. - Strong understanding of cloud environments, databases, and modern engineering practices. - Experience working in product-oriented environments with high ownership and fast execution. - Ability to mentor developers while remaining deeply involved technically. - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity. - Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with product and business stakeholders. - Curiosity and strong motivation to work with AI-powered products and modern development tools. ## Advantage - Experience with Python, Node.js, React, TypeScript, PHP/Laravel, or similar technologies. - Experience with AI, LLMs, agents, RAG, document processing, data extraction, or workflow automation. - Experience in fintech, financial services, investment platforms, or data-heavy B2B products. - Experience working in early-stage or fast-growing startups. - Experience with complex integrations, financial data, or enterprise-grade SaaS products. ## Why Join Us - Join a growing fintech company at an exciting stage. - Work on a meaningful, complex product used by sophisticated investment professionals. - Take real ownership over architecture, technology, and product direction. - Be part of a small, strong, ambitious team. - Build AI-powered capabilities that solve real business problems. - Have a direct impact on the company's product, culture, and growth.
