About the job As a Software Engineering intern, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs. Minimum qualifications: Currently enrolled in a PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field in the EMEA region, and in your penultimate/final year of education. Experience working with data structures or algorithms during coursework/projects, research, internships, or practical experience in school or work (e.g., open-source coding) Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, Go, etc.) Preferred qualifications: Relevant practical or internship experience (e.g., research assistant, teaching assistant, personal projects, etc) with programming in either: C++, Java, Python, or Go. Research experience in algorithms, architecture, artificial intelligence, compilers, database, data mining, distributed systems, machine learning, networking, or systems. Relevant practical or internship experience with one or more of the following: web application development, Unix/Linux, mobile application development, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, NLP, networking, developing large software systems, or security software development. Ability to complete a minimum 26 week internship in Israel starting between March - May 2027. Responsibilities Research, conceive and develop software applications to extend and improve on Google's product offering. Contribute to a wide variety of projects using natural language processing, artificial intelligence, data compression, machine learning, and search technologies Collaborate on scalability issues involing access to data and information. Utilise exposure to large-scale production software troubleshooting. Help maintain mission critical services.
