Director of Physics
Description We are looking for a Director of Physics to be part of Camtek R&D and product development team, leading the physics domain in the development of state-of-the-art optical microscopy and metrology solutions. Job Description Lead and manage a team of physicists, providing technical leadership, mentorship, and professional guidance across research, development, and productization. Drive and oversee the development of next-generation optical microscopy systems, optical assemblies, and advanced metrology technologies. Guide key technical decisions related to optical components, cameras, illumination sources, sensors, and opto-electronic assemblies. Provide direction and oversight for simulations, experiments, and validation activities, including acceptance and test methodologies. Lead the team in addressing complex technological challenges and delivering high-impact physics-based solutions. Work closely with multidisciplinary R&D teams, including algorithms, systems, applications, product, support, and customers, and collaborate with leading optical and opto-electronics vendors. Requirements PhD or MSc with a relevant thesis in Applied Physics, Electro-Optics, or a related field. Strong background in optics - mandatory. Proven experience in leading and managing a physics or R&D team. Broad technological exposure and experience working in multidisciplinary environments. Experience in the semiconductor equipment industry – an advantage. Experience with optical simulation tools (e.g., Zemax, LightTools) - an advantage. Background or familiarity with AI and data-driven approaches - an advantage.
